Steinberg UR series Photo Contest 2017

The competition is sponsored by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, Beim Strohhause 31, 20097 Hamburg (hereinafter referred to as "Steinberg").

Participation is free and independent of any purchase of goods or services. By participating in the competition, the participant accepts the following conditions of participation.

Terms of Participation

  1. Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest or Whatsapp:
    If the participation in the contest is made via a social media platform, the following applies: Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest or Whatsapp is not affiliated with this contest. Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest or Whatsapp is not available as contact for the contest. There are no legal claims against Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest or Whatsapp
  2. Description of Competition:
    The exact course of the competition, the period of the contest (participation period), the task for the photos as well as the respective winnings, can be found in the contest description on the website
  3. Participants:
    Any natural person is entitled to participate, even professional photographers. Minors, e.g. under 18 years, however, require permission from a parent or guardian, who is deemed by Steinberg regarding the participation of a minor. Employees of Steinberg or associated companies are excluded from participating in the competition.
  4. No multiple participation:
    Each participant may take part in the competition only once. In the case of multiple participation, Steinberg reserves the right to exclude the participant from the competition. The participant may submit several photos, but the same participant cannot win several prizes. However, it is possible to win a weekly price and, in addition, a prize of the final award.
  5. Camera and smartphone:
    All kinds of photographic devices or cameras can be used, from smartphones to SLR cameras.
  6. Cancellation of participation:
    The participant may cancel his participation during the participation period by deleting the user account.
  7. Copyrights and rights granted:
    The copyrights of the submitted photos remain with the participant. The participant grants to Steinberg the non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to use the submitted photos for advertising purposes in connection with the Steinberg product line "UR series", also in edited form of some or all submitted pictures in or on its websites, catalogs, posters, magazines or periodicals, books, third party websites, exhibitions and any other advertising material. He waives his publication as an author. Steinberg reserves the right to edit photos when used for advertising purposes.
  8. Own photos:
    Participant shall submit only self-made photos for which the participant has all rights for the granting of rights. Any person on the photo must consent (in the case of a minor a parent or guardian) before the photo may be submitted to the competition. Any disputes arising from allegations that the participant has no rights to the photo or motifs must be regulated by the participant. The participant shall indemnify Steinberg from all claims of third parties for the use of the photos, including reasonable legal costs. In case of objection to photos or comments by third parties, Steinberg is entitled to block access to or delete the objected content.
  9. Data Protection:
    Steinberg will treat all personal data confidentially in accordance with the German Data Protection Act (BDSG). Steinberg collects, processes and stores personal data, which is necessary for the execution and settlement of the competition and only for the duration of the competition until settlement. The personal data are not passed on to third parties (neither for commercial nor non-commercial purposes) and also not used for advertising purposes.

  10. Operations Team:
    The Steinberg #URamazing Photo Contest is entirely in the hands of the Operations Team of the UR Series Photo Contest. The Operations Team can take all necessary measures to ensure fair conduct of the competition.
  11. The prizes will be awarded among all participants. The time recorded at Steinberg is decisive for the time of participation Subsequent responses / participations after expiration of the competition period will not be considered. Steinberg is not responsible for any delays in data transmission.
  12. Determination of winners:
    The winner or the winners of the final award are decided by the highest voting. At the end of the winning period, the photos will be winning in the order which received more votes: place 1 to the photo with the most votes, place 2 to the photo with the second most votes, etc. The winner or the winners of the weekly prizes will be decided by the UR Series Photo Contest Operations Team. Per participant, only one prize is possible in a contest (weekly award, final award), unless multiple winnings are expressly permitted.
  13. Price notification:
    The winner is usually informed by sending an email about the further handling of the prize award. If incorrect data (e.g. e-mail address) have been entered as part of the participation in the competition and do not allow Steinberg to contact the winner or if the winner does not respond over his profile within three days for further processing, the price will be forfeited and a new winner will be determined by the Operations Team at its sole discretion. Steinberg may extend this period to the benefit of the winner in its own discretion and to determine a new winner only after a maximum of 14 business days.
  14. Price claims are not transferable. A cash payment of profits or the like - for whatever reasons - is excluded. Steinberg reserves the right to replace any prices with equivalent alternatives. Subject to the winner's country of residence, the prize may need to be exchanged if it does not comply with local standards and regulations.
  15. Steinberg may request files with a higher resolution or files without watermark or sources (if present in the originally submitted photo) for contributions to the photo exhibition by Steinberg of selected winners or for use in print media in connection with the competition.
  16. Inappropriate contributions and exclusion:
    Steinberg reserves the right not to publish, lock or delete any postings or comments Steinberg considers inappropriate, for example, content that is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive and offensive or violate copyrights or other rights of a person (e.g. minors without the consent of the parents). Participants, who have violated the terms of participation, made false statements in the course of participation or gained an unfair advantage can be excluded from the competition. If a photo or a comment is deemed inappropriate or a participant is excluded, Steinberg reserves the right to cancel the prize and to reclaim it.
  17. Termination of the competition at any time:
    Steinberg may terminate or suspend the competition at any time and without giving reasons. Steinberg makes use of this in particular if it is not possible to ensure the correct execution of the competition for technical reasons (e.g. viruses) or for legal reasons.
  18. Dispatch of prizes:
    In case of physical objects, the prizes will be sent by Steinberg to the postal address given by the winner, unless otherwise specified in the contest description. Steinberg shall be released from all obligations at the latest upon dispatch of the prices, unless otherwise stated in the terms of participation.
  19. Limitation of Liability:
    Steinberg shall only be liable for intentionally caused damages and in case of gross negligent breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations) for foreseeable contract typical damages. The total liability - except intent - shall be limited to 1,000 USD. The liability for the violation of life, body and health as well as to claims under the Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) shall remain unaffected. This regulation also applies in favour of Steinberg's representatives, employees and vicarious agents.
  20. Should any of these terms and conditions be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining terms shall remain unaffected. The invalid term shall be deemed to be replaced by an effective term that comes closest to the economic purpose of the ineffective term. This also applies to a contractual gap.
  21. Process of law and recourse to courts of law are excluded.
  22. The competition shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany excluding the EU International Private Law (Rome I) and the UN Sales Law (CISG) shall apply.

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an email address, a photo etc.

Anonymous data collection

In principle, you can visit our web pages without informing us who you are. When our pages are viewed we automatically register your IP address or the domain name of the user as well as which pages are viewed. All information you submit in connection with such communications or account is given voluntarily and with your consent. Sign in

You can sign in for our service via Facebook Connect or Google Sign-In. To log in you will be redirected to the Facebook or Google page where you can log in with your Facebook or Google user credentials respectively. By linking, we automatically receive personal information from Facebook Inc. or Google Inc. From this information we use your name, your user-ID, your email address your and your profile photo for identification and a possible notification of winning.
